Mountain Craft Days at the

Somerset Historical Center

Each year on the weekend following Labor Day, Mountain Craft Days use the beautiful wooded setting of the Somerset Historical Center to take you back – to a time when ingenious thinking and hard work provided the necessities of life. Nothing came easily to early settlers, but watching how they got what they needed from the land is fascinating, fun and even inspiring!

Arts, Crafts, Music, Food and Fun!

Mountain Craft Days gather more than 120 artisans and craftspeople, who are skilled in 18th and early 19th century ways of working with wood, stone, iron, wool and fabrics, glass, paper and other materials. Dotted around the Center’s farm and woodlands, a dozen outdoor sites showcase demonstrations and live-music performances. Five exhibit buildings also feed the head, while traditional home-style Somerset County foods, such as potpie, apple dumplings, and open-fire-cooked corn-on-the-cob, fill the stomach.
